Leading Causes of Infertility
A rise in infertility has caused many couples to have concerns. Lots of people are asking questions such as: can infertility be avoided, is it hereditary and what are the causes of Infertility? Your Doctor can answer most of these questions. Infertility is not only a female problem but it frequently occurs in men as well. A trip to a physician can help couples know if they are at risk for infertility.
There are a few causes of infertility in women, which may include damage to the fallopian tubes. Sexually transmitted diseases like Chlamydia is the leading cause of fallopian tube damage. Inflammation of the fallopian tubes may go undetected for some time or it may cause severe pain and or fever.
Another leading cause of infertility is Endometriosis. This condition happens when tissue from the uterus grows on the outside of the uterus. This interferes with the ovaries ability to function properly. This can cause both inflammation and scarring of the fallopian tubes making it difficult to become pregnant.
Women who are in their mid to late 30′s and 40′s that are trying to get pregnant may develop uterine fibroids. Fibroids are benign tumors that sit along the wall of the uterus making it difficult for fertilized eggs to become implanted. it is also a possibility women in this age group may go through early menopause. Smoking is one of the causes for early menopause; the absence of a period makes fertility impossible, as there are no eggs being transported into the fallopian tubes for fertilization to take place.
Some causes of infertility may take place after abdominal or pelvic surgery. This form of infertility is called pelvic adhesions. It is a long band of scar tissue that binds around organs making pregnancy virtually impossible.
The best ways for a woman to increase her chances of getting pregnant now or in the future is to eliminate any bad habits now. Drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or doing drugs are not healthy and may cause complications before, during or after pregnancy. These bad habits may increase miscarriages, infertility and even babies born with low birth weight.
Staying in shape can increase the possibility of pregnancy in women. Women that are overweight increase the risk of diabetes during pregnancy so staying at a healthy body weight before pregnancy will increase the possibility.
Having a healthy mind will not only benefit you but your unborn baby. Problems with depression can make it more difficult to get pregnant and even more difficult to enjoy the new baby when it arrives. It is recommended for women to speak with a therapist to determine her mental health and work on any issues before depression robs you of the experience.
